Introduction

Mell Mcgreevy was born to parents Edward Mcgreevy (1865-1947) and Elizabeth "Betty" Miller (born 1868) in 1896. He had siblings Clifford (1894-1980), Brice (born 1898), Burk (1901-1958), Douglas (1907-1952), and Dora Mae Mcgreevy (born 1909). Mell McGreevy from Port Arthur served in the 28th Inf. Div. in WWI, and lost a lung to German gas at the 2nd Battle of the Marne, but survived and took up residence in Houston until his death. He is buried in the Houston National Cemetery.

Mell was a United States citizen. His father Edward was born in Illinois and his mother Elizabeth was born in Texas. His family traveled from Ireland to Cook County, Illinois and then to Texas. County Roscommon.

Mell spent most of his life in Texas living in Port Arthur Jefferson and Houston Harris Texas. He also spent some time in Fullerton Ward 5, Vernon, Louisiana, USA in 1910 while living with his parents and in 1950, after he was divorced, was residing at the Veterans Administration Center T.b. in Yavapai, Arizona, USA.
Military Service

WWI, 28th Infantry Div. US Army. Wounded at the 2nd Battle of the Marne, France in July of 1918. He is buried in the Houston National Cemetery. Mell was drafted into the military on June 6, 1917 and was discharged on May 13, 1919.
