    Nick's parents were proudly born in Ireland, and their parents before them.

    Nicholas was the eldest son, and second child of his parents, who emigrated to San Francisco and tragically lost their home and business in the Great Quake of 1906. They moved in with and relocated to Southern California with Nick's Uncle, a retired SFPD Officer. As soon as he could, Nick took his parents into his home to lived with his family.

    Nick was Class of 1927 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He was very proud to be the first child in his family to achieve a college degree, and play football for the University beside the famous player, Ernie Nevers. Nick's younger brother would also play football and quarterback, at arch rival, University of California at Berkeley , class of 1932.

    Nick served in the ROTC while a student at Stanford, and went on to be a Civil Defense Warden for his Beverly Hills neighborhood during WWII.

    Nick became an investment banker initially with "Blythe and Co." in San Francisco, after graduating from Stanford in Palo Alto, CA. He relocated to Southern California, closer to his parents, and began a life long career with Dean Witter, later known as Dean Witter Reynolds at the downtown LA Flower Street location.

    Nick and clients and college colleagues started a hunting club in Modoc County, called "El Patio Loco" and spent many vacations there hunting ducks.
