  • Introduction

In the 1940 census, Nicholas is listed as Nicol, the 15 yr old son of Ralph and Angeline. He also had a brother Anthony, age 7, living in the household. Anthony was born in New York - Nicol, Ralph, and Angeline were born in Italy. Father Ralph was a laborer, seeking work. Nicol and Anthony were in school. According to public records, Nicholas lived at 24306 132nd Ave Rosedale NY in 1976. His social security number was also issued in New York. According to his World War II draft card for young men, he lived in Jamaica Queens, NY, was 19 yrs old, was born in Bari, Italy, was recently discharged from the Navy, and his neck of kin was Angelina Turturro - his mother. Nicholas stated that he was 163 lbs, 5 ft 9.5 inches, Had a dark complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. This may be 6the father of actor Nichola s Turturro born January 29, 1962, Nicholas Turturro, Sr., since the actor's father also immigrated from Bari at age 6 and was also in the US Navy during WW 2. This is what Wiki says about the actor: Turturro was born in Brooklyn, New York. His mother, Katherine Florence (Incerella), was an amateur jazz singer, who worked in a Navy yard during World War II, and was born in the U.S., to Italian parents, with roots in Sicily. His father, Nicholas Turturro, Sr., was a carpenter and shoemaker who emigrated from Giovinazzo, Apulia, Italy, at the age of six and later fought as a US Navy serviceman on D-Day. In 1983, Turturro, then a struggling actor, was employed as a doorman for the Manhattan apartment building where Billy Joel resided at the time. Turturro would rank all the women Joel brought home by holding up his fingers; Joel's soon-to-be wife, Christie Brinkley, was the only one to get ten fingers twice.
