Noble Harrison Langwell was my paternal grandfather. We did not see him often, but when we did, he seemed calm. He kept a toothpick in his mouth which I thought was the strangest thing. For the time, it wasn't.
I worked at a fast food place when I was a teenager. I looked across the patio (dining area) and there sat Grampa Langwell and Gramma Marge. The place was busy, so it was awhile before I had a chance to go out to check on them. When I did, they were gone! I asked them later why they'd left; it was about a 3 hour drive from Brookfield to where I worked in Keokuk, Iowa. They said they had just been out for a drive and wander my way. After awhile, it was time to wander back home.
Grampa Langwell and his wife, Marge, came to visit me about 2 weeks after my first daughter was born. We have a photo of him holding Kate on his lap. About 6 weeks later, he died.
