Norma Hypatia (Seymour) Funge of Dandenong Australia was born in 1892 in Ararat, Ararat Rural City County, VIC to Thomas Albert Seymour and Mary Ellen (Shanahan) Seymour. She had siblings Naomi Seradi Seymour and Diamond Irene Seymour. She married Charles James Funge in 1916, and had children Dorothy Norma Funge, James Edward Funge, and Audrey Irene Mcmullin. Norma Funge died at age 100 years old in 1992 in Melbourne.

Wells' novel, the show began with simulated "breaking news" of an invasion by Martians. Although the current story is that many were fooled and panicked, in reality very few people were fooled. But the show made Orson Welles' career.
