Norma Dettmer was buried at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Otoe County.

Norma was active in the Syracuse Germanfest where she and her husband were king and queen in 1990. She and her husband received the Syracuse Journal-Democrat Community Service Award in 1989 and she was a member of the Syracuse Fitness Center, where she was dedicated to the exercise program.

She was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. Dettmer was a homemaker, and clerk and cashier for the Lincoln Telephone Company for 37 years.
