Norman Gordon Cunningham was born on October 22, 1887 in Millicent, Wattle Range Council County, South Australia Australia to Thomas Cunningham and Mary Ann Robertson (Boyd) Cunningham. He married Dorothy Omond (Wardlaw) Cunningham on June 28, 1916 in Ringarooma, Tasmania, and had children Nancy Wardlaw Cunningham, Dorothy (Cunningham) Beattie, and Mary Robertson (Cunningham) O'Brien. Norman Cunningham died at age 71 years old on April 28, 1959 in Hobart, TAS, and was buried at Carr Villa Memorial Park 36 Nunamina Ave, in Kings Meadows, Launceston City Council County.

A wrought iron lattice tower, it was designed and built by Gustave Eiffel - who also contributed to the building of the Statue of Liberty.
