Orletus C Thayer [14 Feb 1823, NY-?] m: 16 April 1846 Clarissa Wadsworth [ca 1828, NY-?], by George King, Minister of the Gospel, at the house of James W Wadsworth. Both of the Town of Newark, Allegan County, MI. He was 25 and she 18. ("Clarisa" on record.) Witnesses: Elihu Wadsworth and Harriet Wadsworth. In 1823, in the year that Orletus C. Thayer was born, President James Monroe first introduced the Monroe Doctrine in his State of the Union address. He didn't deliver the speech personally - it was written and delivered to Congress.
