2 Memories, Stories & Photos about Pamela

Met Pam on Beach 62nd Street (The Arverne section of The Rockaways. Queens, NY). This was about one month before I went in the Navy (7/12/1966). She asked me if I would give her surfing lessons when she seen me surfing in June 1966. We would meet early in the morning before lifeguards came on duty at 9 am. She wouldn't tell me her age she looked like 17. I was going to be 20 end of August. Later we got closer and made out under the lifeguards chair. She was angry with me when I told her I was going in the Navy next week. Later I found out in Navy Boot Camp in North Chicago (GLAKES) she was 15. We didn't see each other after Boot Camp or after I was injured in Vietnam. A year later in August 1967, my picture appeared in local Newspaper with Actress/Singer Connie Francis when she visited the Naval Hospital I was in. At the same time in August 1967 my brother noticed a picture also in local newspaper (posted above) of Pam protesting closure of Rockaway Surfing Beach at New York City Hall. Pam looked liked one those actresses right out of one 60's Southern California Beach Movies. I'm sorry she died so young away from the Beach.
