Patrick Joseph Corrigan of Flton Australia was born on July 30, 1865 in Epsom, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC to Elizabeth (Cleary) Corrigan and Thomas Corrigan. He had siblings Thomas John Corrigan, Michael Corrigan, Anthony Corrigan, James Corrigan, and Bernard Corrigan. He married Eileen Monica 'Mary' (Brusnan) Corrigan, and had children Cecil Bernard Corrigan, Lorrimer Corrigan, and Pamela Marguerite Corrigan Storey. Patrick Corrigan died at age 81 years old on April 24, 1947 in Fitzroy, City of Yarra County.

In 1865, in the year that Patrick Corrigan was born, on April 14th, President Abraham Lincoln was shot while attending a comedy at Ford's Theatre - Our American Cousin - in Washington, D.C. Actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth shot him 4 days after Lee had surrendered. The President died the next day. At almost the same time that Lincoln was shot, US Secretary of State William H. Seward and his family were attacked at home by another conspirator and Confederate sympathizer.

In 1888, he was 23 years old when on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school. The day was relatively warm when it began and the blizzard hit unexpectedly, catching most by surprise.
