Paul was a deep thinking, compassionate, yet bright and fun-loving young man when he left us. Ever engaged in his own self improvement, he was also on the lookout for friends and family that might need a hand to lift them when they fall, an ear to listen for them in their dispair, a smile to brighten their day, and quite literally, a breath, should they need one.
Though we lost him way too young, his wisdom was far beyond his years. It's been many years since we've heard that laugh or seen that perpetual sparkle in his eyes. He was training to save lives as a Paramedic but his passion lay in words. As an English major, at SUCOswego, his pursuit of language and meaning would earn him honors were he to survive long enough. Sadly, he succumbed to complications related to a very common ailment suffered by those existing in a communal living arrangement such as you would find in a college environment. It was not alcohol nor drug related. Just a most unfortunate loss to his family, his friends, and I believe, humanity. He was so destined for great things.
So, peace to all who have found these words. I believe Paul is with me every time I see a cloud move aside to let the sunshine. May that sun shine on you as well and may we all share in the peace, wisdom, and grace that was the life of Paul Michael Schweizer.
