Pearl Wise Clavelle JEANERETTE — Services for Pearl Clavelle, 72, the former Pearl Wise, will begin at 1 p.m. today at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Moncriffe officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. today until the time of services at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Clavelle died at 6:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Clavelle was baptized at a very early age and remained a faithful member of Morning Pilgrim until her demise. Many of her years were spent helping to organize the Missions Department and serving as treasurer until her illness prevented her from continuing her duties. She also served as a deaconess. She lived a life that was devoted to her children and family. Anytime anyone was sick, this statement was made, "go get che." She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. James "TK" (Ramona) Alexander Sr., Mary Belle Teague, Charlotte Hopes, Wilmetta Clavelle and Mrs. Melvin (Georgia) Rhine, all of Jeanerette, Mrs. Charles (Clara Ann) Smith of New Iberia and Mrs. Spencer (Pearl) Robertson of Houston; four brothers, Philip Wise of Oakland, Calif., Edgar Wise of Port Arthur, Texas, Glence Wise of Vienna, Va., and Lionel Wise Sr. of Jeanerette; six sisters, Nettie W. Davis of Franklin, Permella Devaull of Oakland, Calif., Bettye Wise Paul of Jeanerette, Ruby Coleman of New Iberia, Clara Ann Cole of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Patricia W. Delegal of Darien, Ga.; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a sister-in-law, brother-in-law and one godchild. Mrs. Clavelle was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clavelle; her parents, Glence and Permella Carpenter Wise Sr.; five sisters, Lucy W. Yeggins, Minty W. Ganey, Hattie W. Henderson, Ellen Lee Green and Mary W. Moncriffe. Pallbearers will be Lilton Marks Jr., James Alexander Jr., Lilton Marks Sr., Bernard Hall Jr., Melvin Rhine Jr., Elton Hope Jr. and Marcus L. Marks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeanerette Mayor James "TK" Alexander Sr., Spencer Robertson, Earl Williams, Edgar Wise Sr., Charles Smith, Lionel Wise Sr. and Glence Wise Jr. Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements. - Posted: Monday, March 1, 1999 12:00 am on www.Iberianet.com
