Peter Climas of Sandhurst Australia was born in 1881 in Long Gully, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC to Thomas Climas and Maria (Roberts) Mercer Climas. Peter Climas had siblings John James Climas Mercer, Rebecca Climas Stephens, Julia Jane Climas Roberts, Rose Ann (Climas) Jory, and Richard Thomas Climas. He married Lillian May Robinson in 1921. He also married Emma Gooding Climas, and they had children Beatrice Edith Climas, Alma Elizabeth Climas, Charles Noel Climas, and Doris Rebecca Climas. Peter Climas died at age 57 years old on November 24, 1939 in Heidelberg, City of Banyule County.

In 1881, in the year that Peter Climas was born, on April 28th, Billy the Kid escaped from the Lincoln County Jail in New Mexico. He killed James Bell and Robert Ollinger in the escape and then stole a horse and rode out of town. On July 14th, Pat Garrett shot and killed Billy the Kid in Billy's friend's home near Fort Sumner, New Mexico.

In 1895, he was merely 14 years old when on May 18th, Italy's first motor race was held. The race was 58 miles long - from Turin to Asti and back. Five cars started but only three completed the race. It was won by Simone Federman who drove a Daimler Omnibus - his average speed was 9.6 mph.
