She was married to George Edward Antunes circa 1948 in Trenton, Mercer County, NJ, and they were together until George's death on December 30, 2006 in Perkasie, Bucks County, PA. She had children Paul Brian Antunes, Mark Scott Antunes, and Jill Hope Antunes. Phyllis Antunes died at age 89 years old on May 7, 2016 at Doylestown Hospital 595 W. State St., in Doylestown, Bucks County, PA, and was buried on May 14, 2016 at Carversville Cemetery in Carversville.

Phyllis (Bartlett) Antunes,89, of Hilltown Township,PA died on Saturday,May 7,2016 at Doylestown Hospital. She was the loving wife of George Edward Antunes Jr. for 58 years. Phyllis was born in Trenton,NJ to the late Lester Judson Bartlett and the late Katherine (Miller) Bartlett. She graduated from Trenton High School,class of 1944. Phyllis then attended Buchnell University in Lewisburg,PA and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania,School of Nursing,class of 1948. She had a career in nursing during which she worked at Doylestown Hospital,for Dr. Woodman in Point Pleasant,PA, as a public health nurse for Bucks County,for Dr. Nuschke in Souderton,PA, and then as a Registered Nurse for Pennridge School District until retiring in 1992. Phyllis was a member of the former Unitarian Church of Fountainville. She had a deep sense of civic and social responsibility. As such she volunteered with the Bucks County Meals on Wheels,was a longtime member of the Hilltown Township Civic Association,a member of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown,a member of Bucks County Democratic Party,serving as a Poll Watcher for more than 30 years and running for the PA House of Representatives in 1964. Beyond that she donated to a number of philanthropic causes that are focused on the improvement of people's lives and the environment they live in. Phyllis enjoyed traveling,going to Europe several times with her late husband George and as far as Australia and New Zealand with a friend. She was an avid reader of newspapers and books,accumulating a large personal library. Phyllis was always current with the news watching major networks broadcasts on a daily basis. She also enjoyed flower gardening,tennis,bridge club,orchestra concerts and the Bucks Count Symphony. Phyllis was a devoted wife,mother,grandmother and great-grandmother and loved hosting events and family at her house. Family was very important to her. She extended herself by taking in her stepmother Rachael and older sister Eleanor when they were in need. Over the years she also took care of two sets of grandchildren; Heather and Matthew,then David and James when their parents needed assistance to provide care and parental supervision during the summer. She was the family tree and relationship expert always keeping in mind the birthday and relationship to everyone else of every grandparent,aunt,uncle,first,second,and third cousin. She had a warm,gracious personality that was enjoyed by everyone she came in contact with. She is survived by two sons,Paul B. Antunes & wife,Habiba of Queens,NY,Mark S. Antunes & wife,Bridget of Perkasie,PA; a daughter,Jill H. Antunes & husband Carl Beetz of Salem,OR; four grandchildren- Heather,Matthew,David & James and three great-grandchildren-Tanner,Hayden & Thatcher. In addition to her parents and husband,she was preceded in death by four sisters,Eleanor Ottinger,Alice Shoch,Nina Bartlett & Janice Johnstone and a brother,Judson Bartlett. A memorial service will be held on Saturday,May 14,2016 at 1:00 P.M. preceded by a string quartet performance starting at 12:30 P.M. at Carversville Christian Church,3736 Aquetong Road,Carversville,Pennsylvania 18913. Inurnment will take place at the Cartersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to: Doylestown Hospital Hospice,595 W.
