He had three siblings including a sister named Karen Sue Grissom (1947-1964). He attended 1967 Lassen High School Yearbook Photo in Susanville, California. William enlisted into the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. William Ralph Grissom passed away on November 1, 2011 and is buried at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Redding, Section 7 Site 190 11800, Gas Point Road, California.

Ralph was my best friend in high school. He was an only child. He once told me he was a cousin of Gus Grissom. I knew his mom and dad but cannot recall their names. They were living in Susanville, California when I knew them. I remember him going off to war as a Marine and looking me up upon his return to tell me about his plans for college. That was the last I saw of him.
