He was my grandfather. I thought this man walked on water. I was his baby girl his first granddaughter. One of my favorite memories of him. was when I was 11 years old. I rode the train with him to Chicago to see my aunt Donna Crow Cochran. we watched out the windows and he told me stories of when he was a younger. We walked to the dinning car to eat and happy hour which came about every three hour I remember being asleep and we were at a stand still and all the lights came on, of course it woke me up. I asked him what's going on granddaddy he said I don't know the damn lights just came on. we were in St Louis and it was time for a shift change. It came time for us to get off at our stop and I was in the restroom. he sent a lady in looking for me, she said if there is a little girl named Debbie in here there is a very tall grandpa looking for you. I came out and there he stood saying if you don't hurry the train is going to leave you. What take girls so long in the restroom? You scared me to death! I have many more memories that are precious to me. I was sixteen when he died. I lost my best friend.
