Reuben George Ricketts 1918 - 1963

Reuben George Ricketts was born on November 7, 1918 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia United States to Ruth Magdalene (Richardson) Ricketts and Edward Bennett Ricketts, and had siblings Oscar Daniel Ricketts, Estes Beverly Ricketts, Paul Zebedee Ricketts, Amanda Ruth (Ricketts) Barker, Harold Edward Ricketts, and Sarah Alma Ricketts. He married Eliza Susan (Yeatts) Ricketts on December 1, 1944 in Morgan County, Alabama, and they were married until Reuben's death on May 10, 1963 in Danville. Reuben Ricketts had children Reuben George Ricketts Jr. and Ellen Kay Ricketts Keesee.

    Reuben entered the US Army in January 1942 and attended ground school in the AirCorps. He was a 1st Lieutenant with 2140 Base Unit of the Army Air Force and served as a bomber pilot of a B-24 Liberator during World War II. Completing 34 bombing missions in the European theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three oak leaf clusters.
