  • Introduction

Dad was born on Feb 7, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA, to Homer Cyreneus Rogers and Ethel Louise Vandiver Rogers. He joined his sister Geraldine Louise Rogers in the home. She was approximately 4 years his senior. His family moved about the country, and when Dad was 10 years old, a brother, Michael Wayne Rogers, joined the family while they lived in Detroit, MI. When Dad started Kindergarten, they lived in Great Bend, KS. They eventually moved to Pratt, KS, where, in the 10th grade, he met my Mother, Ruth Eileen Hatfield. They graduated in May 1962, and married December 1 of the same year, on Grandpa's birthday. In 1963, Grandpa passed away as a result of a massive heart attack. He was 46 years old. My parents went on to have 2 daughters--myself and my sister, Cynthia Jo Rogers (Elliott) before Grandma passed away in 1974, at the age of 51, due to advanced liver disease. Dad moved us around a bit, but we settled finally in Garden City, KS. Our brother, Russell Layne Rogers, joined the family in 1976. We were not a perfect family, by any means, but we love(d) each other. I went on to have 3 children, Cindy has one son, and Russ has 3, also. Dad died June 27, 2003 as a result of a truck accident while he was working. His sister, Geraldine (Geri) Louise Rogers Adcock, joined him in early 2015, in Santa Rosa, California. They are both truly missed. Beautiful people. I miss my Dad every day and wish I could just talk to him one more time. Rest in Peace, Daddy.
