Synopsis
“My First Miracle” is the story of Angelica, a 16-year-old girl who’s battling a rare kind of cancer called Myelodysplasic Syndrome, her struggles to try and live a normal life, and her hopes of finding her first true love before it’s too late.

“My First Miracle” features a wonderful dramatic story and compelling acting from the lead actress, Katya Martin, who plays Angelica, a teen girl battling cancer. At the start of the story, Angelica is fearful she will never know the simple things many people take for granted, such as receiving her first kiss from a boy.
The story defines its characters well, including a homeless man named Charlie (Sean Patrick Flanery) and a homeless young man named Sean (Juan Castano). Sean actually steals Angelica’s father’s wallet, but later when he winds up at the hospital where Angelica is being treated, he takes a liking to her, confesses his deed and returns the wallet to her to give to her father. Another main character is a boy named Tommy (Elijah Eustler Sharpless), who is also in the hospital for cancer. He talks a lot, and he and Angelica are friends.
Angelica’s parents fight over the stress of paying the medical bills and the struggle to work and get Angelica to the hospital for her chemo treatments. Yet Angelica finds an ally in Sean. Then a miracle takes place, in which an “angel” in human form offers hope to Angelica through one of the last people she ever thought could help save her. “My First Miracle” is well-acted and written and offers hope to all viewers who face a difficult time. We are pleased to award it our “Faith-Friendly” Seal for ages 12-plus.
