McDonald, who was born in 1876, and he had siblings Euphemia, Anastasia, Christina, Francis, Mary Eugene, Laurence, Albert and Rita. Ronald J. MacKinnon married Mary Evelyn Baird (1907 - 1991) and they had three sons, including Ronald Reginald (1934 - 2006), Albert Eugene (1942 - 1992) and John.
