Ruby Alice (Edwards) Pearson of Kyneton Australia was born in 1877 in Kyneton, Macedon Ranges Shire County, VIC to Mary (Juniper) Edwards and James Sturgis Edwards. She had siblings Robert Juniper Edwards, William Anderson Edwards, John Bryan Edwards, and Henry Mountcashel Edwards. She married William Thomas Stanley Pearson in 1900, and had children Thomas James Pearson, William Thomas Stanley Pearson, Edmond Geoffrey Pearson, Maude Olga Pearson, Violet Louise Pearson, and Sturgis Mountcashel Pearson. Ruby Pearson died at age 42 years old in December 1919 in Box Hill, Whitehorse City County.

In 1877, in the year that Ruby Alice Edwards was born, on July 14th, strikes and resulting riots began at the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. A sympathy strike and rioting began in Pittsburgh and a worker's rebellion began in St. Louis, then spread to other cities. 100 people were killed before the strikes ended when President Rutherford B. Hayes sent federal troops to each of the cities involved.
Did you know?
In 1884, Ruby was only 7 years old when on December 6th, the Washington Monument was completed. Building began in 1848 but was stopped because of lack of funds and also due to the Civil War. It would be dedicated in 1885. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in the world.
