Ruby (Randall) Kellett of Slaty Creek Australia was born in 1897 at Slaty Creek in VIC to Abner Edward Randall and Mary Ann Lavinia (Stanning) Randall. She had siblings Ethel May Randall, Elizabeth Randall Webster, and Thomas Abner Randall. She married Cornelius Leonard Lacey Kellett in 1918, and had a child Gordon Leonard Kellett. Ruby Kellett died at age 66 years old on April 24, 1964 in Reservoir, City of Darebin County, and was buried at Preston General Cemetery Plenty Rd, in Bundoora.

In 1897, in the year that Ruby (Randall) Kellett was born, on September 21st, editor and publisher Francis P. Church responded to a letter to the editor from Virginia O'Hanlon, 8 years old. Virginia's father had told her that "If you see it in The Sun, it's so." So she wrote to the Sun, asking if there was a Santa Claus. Church responded with the now famous editorial "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus".
