She had siblings Madeline Marian (Martz) Corderman, Helen Marie (Martz) Sponenberg, Esther May (Martz) Phillips, Emma Elizabeth (Martz) Vanderpool, Clarence Eugene Martz, Betty Jean (Martz) Marshall, Wilbur Lafayette Martz, and Beverly Ann Martz. Ruth Thompson married Ronald Edward Thompson, and died at age 71 years old on October 5, 2010 in Williamsport.

Both of his parents were born in Pennsylvania. She had eight siblings: six sisters, including Emma, Madeline, Helen, Esther, and Beverly and two brothers, including Clarence. Ruth Martz married Ronald Edward Thompson (1939 - 2003) in 1960 and they had three daughters: Blythe, Tam and Laurie Thompson.     Ruth Arlene Thompson passed away Oct. 5, 2010 at the age of 71. Th e daughter of Clarence and Helen Martz, she is survived by brother Wilbur Martz and sister Betty Marshall. She married Ronald Thompson, who preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Blythe Thompson Burchanowski and Tam Thompson Steckel, and is preceded by daughter Laurie Thompson Burchanowski. She had 14 grandchildren. For well over 30 years, Ruth was the librarian at the Loyalsock Valley Elementary School. She loved her job working with the children, people and books. Following Ruth's wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers support to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in memory of Ruth.
