Samuel Shergold was born in 1835. He married Sarah Ann Shergold ( Greenwood, and they had children John Samuel Shergold, Sydney Alfred Shergold, Albert Edward Shergold, and Millicent Ethel Griffith ( Shergold. He also married Ellen Shergold ( Hilson, and they had children Ellen Elizabeth Edwards and Lavinia Louisa (Shergold) Mattinson. Samuel Shergold died at age 85 years old on January 25, 1921 in Warrnambool, VIC Australia.

Introduction

Samuel arrived in Australia in January 1871 on the Kirkham from London with wife Ellen and daughters Ellen Elizabeth and Lavinia Louisa. After Ellen passed away in December 1878, Samuel married Sarah Greenwood In 1880. The Argus, Melbourne. 18th December 1910. Mr. Samuel Shergold, the hallkeeper of the Melbourne Athenaeum, has retired after a service extending over nearly 40 years. Mr. Shergold, who has seen the institution grow to its present importance, has been granted 12 months' leave of absence, his retirement thus dating from December 31, 1911. The Mornington Standard. 1st March 1914. IMPORTANT CLEARING SALE. DROMANA. Wednesday March 5th. W. A. KORNER has recieved instructions from Samuel Shergold, Esq., ( who is leaving the District ), to sell by Public Auction, on the above date, on the Ground, His VALUABLE PROPERTY, containing 44 Acres, well fenced and subdivided Good Homestead, Outbuildings, Garden amd Orchard, Splendidly situated, close Dromana.

The Argus, Melbourne. 27th January 1921. SHERGOLD.- On the 25th January, at Warrnambool, ( suddenly ), Samuel, the dearly beloved husband of the late Sarah Ann Shergold, and beloved father of Mrs. Matherson, Footscray, late Mrs. Edwards; John, Sydney, Albert and Mrs. Griffith, aged 86. At rest.
