Sara Hunt Pope was born in 1767 to Jesse Mckinnie Pope Sr and Mary Elizabeth Nancy Fort, and had siblings Phillip Pope, Philip Pope, Cullen Pope, John Pope, Charity Pope, Samuel Pope, and Hannah Pope. Sara Pope died at age 73 years old in 1840.

In 1807, she was 40 years old when on February 19th, former Vice President of the United States Aaron Burr was arrested on charges of treason, accused of plotting to grab parts of Louisiana and Mexico in order to create an independent republic. On September 1st, he was acquitted of the charges. Although he was deemed to be guilty of plotting against the U.S., he was not found to be guilty of an "overt act" - which is the Constitutional requirement to be met. Burr's reputation, after the charges and the duel with Alexander Hamilton, was ruined, however.

In 1810, she was 43 years old when on November 17th, the Anglo-Swedish War (1810–12) began. Sweden declared war on the United Kingdom. While no hostilities occurred, France had demanded that Sweden declare the war and for economic reasons, Sweden complied. Two years later, France occupied Swedish Territory and Sweden sought peace with Great Britain.
