Sarah Barney
I have two old studio photographs which belong to the BARNEY Family of Minnesota. The first is a photograph of Sarah BARNEY which was taken at the Brown Studio in Mankato, MN when she was just 4 1/2 months old. The second photograph is identified as William A. BARNEY which was taken at the E. F. Everitt Studio in Mankato, MN. This photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with William just a toddler at the time.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Sarah and her family:

Sarah “Sadie” B. BARNEY was b. 16 Jan 1884 in Mankato, MN to parents Sheldon or Shelden Farrar BARNEY (1831-1905) and Sara or Sarah Catharine or Catherine WALZ (b. 1855) who were married 27 Aug 1872. Sarah was one of 6 children born to this couple including Norman S.; Willard Albert; John Catron; Charles Aylesworth; Sarah B.; and Benjamin Franklin BARNEY, all born between 1873 and 1888. Sarah married Maximillian Alexander REX (1860-1957) 29 Apr 1919 in Los Angeles, CA and she died in Los Angeles, CA on 4 Jan 1978.

I don’t know how William and Sarah might be related though since the photographs were recovered from the same source, I’m sure they are related in some manner. It is also possible that William A. BARNEY is the same person as Willard Albert BARNEY and has simply been misidentified on the photograph.

I’d like to get these photographs to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
