Sarah Catherine Mundwiler was born on November 17, 1854. She was married to George Washington Cooper, and they were together until George's death on June 27, 1938. She had children Mary E. Kegris, William Shannon Cooper, Chester Ambrose Cooper, Norman W. Cooper, Gillespie Martin Cooper, Minnie Annie (Cooper), Effie May Knee, Hollester M. Cooper, Fronie E. Cooper, and Freeda Floy Barkman. Sarah Mundwiler died at age 84 years old on June 14, 1939.

In 1884, at the age of 30 years old, Sarah was alive when on December 6th, the Washington Monument was completed. Building began in 1848 but was stopped because of lack of funds and also due to the Civil War. It would be dedicated in 1885. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in the world.
