  • Introduction

    Scott was born in the territory of Alaska to John and Rita Woods. His father was in the Air Force, so the family moved frequently. They did settle in Colorado Springs where Scott graduated from Palmer High School. There he participated in an Outward Bound program which sparked his lifelong love of the outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting and camping were his favorite activities. Scott attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he earned a degree in German Literature and Language. Later, he attended the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Scott spent most of his career working for Hewlett Packard, designing operating software for cameras. He then designed operating software for security cameras at Schneider Electric (Pellco) where he designed operating software for security cameras.

    Scott's father was in the United States Air Force, stationed in the territory of Alaska, when Scott was born. The military family moved often, but eventually settled in Colorado Springs, CO where Peterson Air Force Base is located. He continued to move around as an adult, moving from Colorado Springs to the city of Ft. Collins, Colorado, to Stove Prairie Road west of Ft. Collins, and to a location outside of Cedar Edge, CO, on the western slope at 7600 feet. Here he met and married his wife, Mary, about 2016. The altitude made it hard for Scott to breathe there, so he and his wife moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota, about 2019.

    Scott graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, CO. He attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he earned a degree in German Literature and Language. He later attended the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Career

    Scott spent the majority of his career working for Hewlett Parkard, designing operating software for cameras. He finished his career with Schneider Electric (Pellco) where he designed operating software for security cameras.
  • Personal Life & Family

    Music was one of Scott's passions. In the last year of his life, he was taking lessons to improve his banjo-playing skills. He loved his dogs: Baylor, an early hiking companion, and Snoop and Maggie; also Mary's two dogs, Pip and Charlotte. And Lucy, his most recent adventure companion.

Scott spent a year studying in Germany. He spent a month in Africa with a friend who was in the Peace Corp. These experiences inspired his love of travel and adventure.
About 1990, Scott hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner at his home. Scott provided turkey and dressing and the main parts of the meal. Everyone brought something. A friend brought rhubarb pie, another home-made bread. The table was beautifully set. The meal was superb. Scott was also a great cook.
