CLAREMORE — An arrest warrant has been issued for an Oologah woman accused of abusing her two daughters.
Heather Bargo Lowenberg, 42, was charged Tuesday with child abuse by injury. Her bond was set at $20,000.
A probable cause affidavit says Lowenberg kicked, punched and choked her 11-year-old daughter and kicked her 7-year-old daughter.
In an interview at the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office on May 26, the older daughter told authorities that Lowenberg slapped her in the face and pulled her onto the couch by the hair, records show. A deputy noted the child had three scratches on her arm.
In an interview with authorities May 31, the younger daughter told a deputy that Lowenberg struck her in the face, knocking her down. Marks on the child’s face noted by the officer were consistent with a palm strike, the deputy stated.
The daughters also were interviewed at the William H. Barnes Children Advocacy Center on July 8. The older child said that sometime before Memorial Day, she and her mother got into an argument and that Lowenberg grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the ground, causing scratches to her arm, according to the affidavit. Once on the ground, Lowenberg punched and kicked her in the face, chest and genital area, the girl told authorities.
The girl also said her mother choked her, telling her that she did not want her and to get out, documents indicate. The older daughter said later that Lowenberg told her not to tell, threatening to hit her in the head and kill her if she did, according to the affidavit.
Lowenberg tried to cover up her daughter’s scratches with make-up and told the child that, if asked about them, to say they were caused by a cat, records show. Photographs of the scratches taken by the deputy indicate the marks are consistent with those caused by a human, documents indicate.
In the younger daughter’s interview at the CAC, she said she saw Lowenberg scratch, kick and punch her sister, records show. When the younger girl hit her mother to try to keep her from hurting her sister, Lowenberg kicked the younger sibling in the chest and stomach, documents indicate. An emergency protective order against Lowenberg was granted this summer and remains in effect, court records show.
