    Stanley's natural mother died during his childhood. His father remarried sometime later. Stanley and his step-mother did not get along, so at the age of 15, he ran away from his Michigan home. (story according to my mother)

    Born in Michigan around 1883. Ran away from home at age 15. Joined the Army at age 17 and served during the Spanish American war. He met and married Letha Pope in Missouri and they had a daughter, Evelyn, born May 14, 1919. Stanley and the family alternated between Fredericktown, MO and St. Louis during the depression. As a heavy smoker, he died of pulmonary complications around 1942
