He married Frances Victoria (Frisch) Ferrier in 1913, and had children William Henry Ferrier, Allan Douglas Ferrier, Winifred Ellen Ferrier, and John Robert Ferrier. Stephen Ferrier died at age 78 years old on July 1, 1970 in Warrnambool.
