Stephen Muir Crawley 1861 - 1934

Stephen Muir Crawley of Boomanoomana, Berrigan Shire Council County, NSW Australia was born in 1861 in Rushworth, Campaspe Shire County, VIC to John Crawley and Jean (Muir) Crawley. He had siblings Sophia (Crawley) Ahern, Annie Crawley, Isabella Crawley, James Muir Crawley, Joseph Crawley, Henry Clarke Crawley, John Crawley, Robert Spence Crawley., and Rebecca Jean (Crawley) Reilly. He married Lucy Theresa Crawley ( Sellars, and had children John Muir Crawley, Henry "Roy" Crawley, Cora O'Dwyer ( Crawley, Jean Crawley., Isobel Irene (Crawley) Cullen, Stephen Crawley, Claude Crawley, James Crawley, and Robert Crawley. Stephen Crawley died at age 72 years old on June 5, 1934 in Cobram, Moira Shire County.

The Revenue Act of 1861 was rescinded in 1862 but from 1861 through 1862, a flat tax was charged - 3% - on all income over $800, which included only 3% of households.
