    Taylor Michael Barrett, a Customs and Border Protection Officer in Whitlash Montana passed away on December 21,2016 at the young age of 27. Taylor is survived by his wife and friend, Maydine S. Barrett (Martinez);his two sons,Michael Edward and Christopher Alejandro and his faithful dog Sally all of whom he loved;his parents William and Lori Barrett;his siblings Joshua,William,Jeremiah and Caitlin;his maternal grandmother Helen Weitzel;his uncles Jeffrey Barrett and Richard Weitzel;his father and mother-in-law Carlos and Isabel Martinez;9 nieces and nephews and family that extends around the world. In 2006,Taylor joined the New Jersey Army National Guard at age 17,in 2007 at the age of 18,Taylor (Rookie) Barrett graduated from the Somerset County Vocational Technical School where he studied Computer Science. Later that year he met his future wife Maydine at Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy (SCESTA). They married August 9,2009. Taylor was a volunteer fire fighter with the Neshanic Station Fire Department. Taylor was an Operating Engineer with Local 68 prior to joining the United States Customs and Border Protection in September 2013. He started his career as a United States Customs Officer in Newark, New Jersey and recently transferred to Whitlash Montana. Taylor's family meant the world to him;he was a devoted father and husband. He had an infectious sense of humor that left a smile on the face of everyone he met. He loved animals and tried to find homes for all those he rescued. We are celebrating Taylor's life and his many accomplishments. Even though he is in God's hands now, his presence will always be with us and all those he touched. A funeral service for Taylor will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,January 3,2017 in the Neshanic Reformed Church,715 Amwell Rd.,Hillsborough Township,NJ 08844. Burial will follow at Neshanic Cemetery. Visiting for relatives and friends will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Monday January 2,2017 at the Hillsborough Funeral Home,796 US HWY 206,Hillsborough NJ,08844.
