Thelma's father, George Ferguson, died in Idaho in 1922.
After his death, Thelma and her sisters Dorothy and Norma, along with brother Harry, moved to Aberdeen, Washington. Their sister Iva 'Wea' Ferguson Greenough was living with her husband, Bryan, in nearby Raymond, Washington.
On December 24, 1924, Thelma married Ralph Greenough, brother to Bryan Greenough who was married to Thel's sister Wea. They remained in Raymond, WA for a short while before moving to Marysville, CA and then Vale, Oregon.
By 1926 the couple had relocated to Bellingham, WA where Ralph worked as a life insurance agent and Thel was a store clerk.
In January, 1927, Thel was hit on the head with a 'black jack' by a man robbing the store. Thel had to identify him in a line-up, and he was later prosecuted for the crime. He had taken $40 in cash.
In April 1930, the couples only son, Gale Joseph Greenough, was born in Bellingham, Washington. In October 1932, Thelma and Ralph took in Frank Kroetch, the son of Thel's sister, Dorothy. Dorothy passed away in August 1932 from meningitis, and the Ferguson siblings stepped in to foster Dorothy's 4 children. Frankie was sent to live with his Uncle Earl Ferguson. However, after Frankie accidently set a cousins' hair on fire, he was sent to his Aunt Thel and Uncle Ralph.
By 1940, Thelma separated from Ralph, and moved from Lake McMurray back to Bellingham, Washington. She took Gale with her, telling her nephew Frank that she could no longer care for him.
The 1950 census shows Thelma and Gale living on Mt. Baker highway, and Thel was a grocery clerk in Nugent's Corner, Whatcom County. Thel was reading a letter while crossing the street, and was hit by a logging truck. She was killed instantly. Unfortunately, the driver was a friend of Thel's and he couldn't stop the truck in time. He was devastated by her death.
