Theodore Dost 1904 - 1976

Theodore Dost of Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin was born on February 23, 1904 to Robert Dost and Marguerite (Roussy) Dost. He had siblings Narcisse Emily Jane Sophy (Dost) Goethe and Elamer August Mark Dost. He married Bernice Dost, and had children Theodore R. Dost Jr., James A. Dost, and William Robert Dost. Theodore Dost died at age 72 years old in July 1976.

Introduction

Extremely OCD would wash his hands 3-4 times every time. Started a lumber mill on the Fox river in competition to Elamar's lumber yard. Very caring and hard working, loved his family. He ended up starting a metal working factory that James Dost took over. Avid outdoorsman. Died peacefully in his sleep from axphexiation due to a tumor in his throat that had cut off air.

When my grandmother and my dad and uncles would talk about him there was always a fondness about it. He was very much loved and raised a family that was adamant of spreading love. Truly a man of God which resonated through the entire family. He unfortunately passed before I was born but, left such an impression on the family that I can look back with fondness on the grandfather I never met. Wish I had the opportunity to have met him.

This is one of the only images of my father in which he does not seem to be wearing a moustach. I believe the picture dates from 1958. My mother said she never saw my father without his moustach and so he shaved it away. She said she preferred the moustach and that is why he he had a moustach ever since. His glasses. His moustach and his pipe were kind of his signature props. People always remember him as the slim be speckled guy smoking a pipe. It's funny the image of my clean shaven father should be accidently preserved in a souveneer photo from the SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY building in Chicago, Illinois. The photographer and his old fashioned equipment were part of a museum display of the Streets of Old CHICAGO.
