Introduction

Theresa's father was Thomas Klimko and her mother was Joan Marie Klimko. She had siblings Mary, Constance, and Justin. Theresa became a nurse at the age of 19 and worked in surgical and pediatric specialties. After working as a nurse for a while, she also worked to become a veterinarian, then continued to work as a nurse and an emergency veterinarian. Getting her masters in Public Health, she added "epidemiologist" to her list of accomplishments. She worked as an emergency veterinarian, epidemiologist, and breeder of Belgian Shepherds until she died. Theresa B Klimko: Early Life & Education She died, according to her obituary, at her home in Raleigh North Carolina, "unexpectedly".

Theresa went to school in both Detroit Michigan and Athens Ohio. She graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oaks, Michigan and graduated first in her class from Hocking Tech in Nelsonville Ohio, with and associate degree in nursing. After serving as a nurse for a few years, Theresa graduated first in her class from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Dr. Klimko obtained a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Professional Career

Theresa began her nursing career at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital in Athens Ohio. She then moved on to working as a pediatric nurse at O'Blene Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. Next, she worked as a nurse at Doctor's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Theresa continued to work as a nurse in North Carolina, working in the pediatric intensive care unit at UNC Hospitals and as an emergency veterinarian at the Quail Corners Animas Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. She continued at Quail Corners until she died. After getting her Masters in Public Health, Dr. Klimko, as well as working as an emergency veterinarian, was an epitdemiologist with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Heatlth and Natural Resources, first studying Lyme disease, then HIV-AIDS/STD's. Previous to her death, she worked as an epidemiologist and nursing consultant, wher she tracked the course of a variety of communicable diseases, being quoted in Time magazine.
Personal Life & Family

Theresa also raised and bred champion Belgian Shepherds and was active in the Durham Kennel Club and committed to the Belgian Shepherd rescue organization.
