Theodore, who was from Australia, served during World War I, participating in various significant battles. He was initially stationed in Gallipoli and Egypt as a member of the 14th Australian Infantry Battalion. Later, he was transferred to the Western Front, where he joined the 5th Australian Machine Gun Company. He took part in battles at Fromelles, Bullecourt, Polygon Wood, Villers Bretonneux, and more.
On the 29th of July, 1918, during the fighting at Morlancourt, Theodore sustained severe injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds to his right shoulder. These injuries had a lasting impact on him. Following his service overseas, Theodore returned to Australia on the 30th of January, 1919. He was officially discharged from the military on the 24th of March, 1919.

Before World War I, Theodore was a Motor Driver. After returning from the War, he worked as a Railway Employee in South Melbourne.
