  • Introduction

    Born in Durango, Colorado, Tyler Christopher Valencia died at the young age of 16. On his headstone, "no fear", "one day at a time", "peace" and a skateboarder appear to be inscribed. Sadly, Tyler, who was a native of Colorado, was killed in a truck accident in Idaho. He was a passenger in a truck driven by the 20 year old driver, who was also killed.     Tyler Valencia, a lifelong resident of Durango, died on October 10, 2006, in Emmett Idaho. He was 16. Tyler contributed in many ways to our community. His happy=go=lucky disposition made him loved and adored by many. He was strong and fearless. Tyler spend numerous hours fishing with his grandpa, Lloyd Valencia, playing baseball and basketball, and in recent years, devoting his time to skateboarding. Tyler made friends from all walks of life and spread his love for life to all of them. We celebrate Tyler's life, and we ask that you remember his smile and laughter, and always live your lives to the fullest, as he did. Rollover kills 2, injures 2 on Idaho 55 near Banks
Two people died and two others were injured Tuesday night when the Dodge pickup they were in went off the road then rolled along Idaho 55 about three miles north of Banks.

Driver Benjamin Paul Middlebrook, 20, of Emmett and passenger Tyler Valencia, 16, died, Idaho State Police reported. Valencia was sitting in the bed of the truck before it wrecked, ISP said.

The truck was travelling south on Idaho 55 around 9:30 p.m. when the truck crossed over into the northbound lane and rolled over, throwing all four people from the truck before coming to a rest on its wheels. Middlebrook was discovered pinned underneath the truck and declared dead at the scene. Valencia was thrown down an embankment and also pronounced dead, according to ISP reports.

Passengers, Denny Lee Feasel and Corey C. Casad, both 19 and residents of Emmett, were transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and treated fro non-life threatening injuries, ISP said. None were wearing seat belts. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Initially, troopers were sent to investigate a truck reportedly pinned under a rock slide. However, patrol officials said the truck was not pinned, and there was no rock slide.
