This photo was taken in 1943 of John Burr Clark and his five sons. They were all six employed at the Houston Shipyard.This picture was taken a few days before John Ersey Clark, the eldest son was killed in a traffic mishap as he was returning home after perfroming his nightly duties as a mechanic in the Yard on the Graveyard shift.

The Clarks Carry On...
The Clarks constitute one of the most unusual war working families in the nation.
This picture was taken in 1943 during World War II, a few weeks before the eldest son John E.Clark met his death in a traffic mishap returning home after performing his nightly duties as a mechanic in the Yard garage on the Graveyard Shift.
Despite the sadness and loss of a son and a brother the remaining five Clarks carried on their jobs at the Shipyard.
It was a sad,sad day for the Clark family in 1943...
