My nephew Victor was 24 when he was killed stateside after two tours in Iraq as a U.S. Marine. His life literally spanned the globe, from his birth in Costa Rica and adoption by American parents in Maryland, with regular visits to Costa Rica, to his global travels in the military. He was well-educated, had a great sense of humor, and had a sensitive, creative inclination, loving art and poetry in particular.

Lance Corporal Victor Julio Huffman was a member of the United States Marines, 2nd Platoon, 1st Company, from 2004 to 2008. His service record included two tours in Iraq, 2003 invasion of Iraq/Operation Iraqi Freedom, for which he received multiple military honors and awards.

October 23, 2008 - Explore Howard Victor Julio Huffman, of Columbia, died Oct. 8, 2008, of internal injuries suffered as a pedestrian after being struck by an automobile in Mount Holly, N.J. He was 24. Mr. Huffman was born in San Carlos, Costa Rica. He attended St. Augustine School and Cardinal Gibbons School, graduating in 2002. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2004 to 2008, serving two tours in Iraq, with the last rank of lance corporal. Mr. Huffman is survived by his brother, Jonathan Huffman, of Curtis Bay; and his adoptive parents, Byron and Kathleen Huffman, of Columbia. A funeral mass with military honors was held Oct. 15, 2008, at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, in Elkridge, with interment in the church cemetery after the service.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
