V.C. bought Wellsville (CO) Hot Springs & improved it. They say that he could have made it one of the best resorts in Colorado, but his other interests took up too much of his time. He was President of the Salida Commercial Club, he was a member of the city council. He was interested in the granite industry and he organized the Salida Granite Company, which he was President of until the time of his death. He was director in the First National Bank, as well as President of the Salida Lumber Company.
