In 1854, in the year that Walter Augustine Robinson was born, on May 30th, the Kansas–Nebraska Act became law. Both territories allowed slavery but it caused contention within the territories.

In 1868, when he was merely 14 years old, on October 28th, Thomas Edison - age 21 - applied for his first patent. In 1888, he was 34 years old when on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. In 1902, at the age of 48 years old, Walter was alive when the first Rose Bowl game was played in Pasadena, California.
