According to family records, Walter also had a son and a daughter in another relationship. Walter was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Navy as an RD 3. An RD 3 was a specialist in operating radar equipment aboard naval vessels. He served from June of 1964 through June of 1968.
