He married Catherine Fisher (Simpson) Slocombe in 1892, and had children Robert Surrage Slocombe, David William Slocombe, and Janet Fisher Slocombe. Walter Slocombe died at age 40 years old on April 27, 1904 in Albany, City of Albany County, WA.
