Wayne W Schafer, 79, 9 Woodland Drive, died Monday morning. March 29, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Services will be Thursday at 1pm at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg, where military rites will be conducted by the Millersburg American Legion Post 192. Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Gail Marty, 840 Maxwell Ave., Millersburg 44654. He was born July 3, 1913 in Holmes County to William and Allie (Frazier) Schafer and married A. Maxine Bell on Sept. 8, 1940. She died Oct. 18, 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 192, both of Millersburg. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Richard (Eloise) Croskey and James, both of Millersburg; Lin and Teri Croskey, Scott and Rick Schafer and Lori (Schafer) Clark. In addition to his wife, one brother and two sisters died previously.
