Wilfred Eugene Schneider of Winnebago, Minnesota United States was born on August 25, 1928 in Blue Earth, Faribault County to Martha (Mitteldorf) Schneider and Carl William Schneider. He had siblings Ardene (Schneider) Neve, Delores Nelson, and Carolyn Linhart. He was the father of Laura Dorthea Schneider. Wilfred Schneider died at age 85 years old on August 15, 2014 in Winnebago, and was buried circa August 20, 2014 at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.

Early Life & Education

After graduating from Blue Earth High School, Will obtained a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in physics and mathematics. Many years later, In 1977, he completed a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mankato State University.
Military Service

No, Will was not a veteran. Disqualified from service for medical reasons, Will fought our enemies by applying his brilliance in physics, math, programming, and engineering to develop radars to protect the country, our military veterans wherever they were stationed, and our allies. He also worked on communications physics for the SkyLab (first) space station. After his divorce from Joyce, he did more radar work in the Aleutian Islands and near Sacramento, CA, and Colorado Springs, CO.
Professional Career

Will had many occupations, and even more jobs and hobbies. Primary careers include teaching mathematics at Minot, North Dakota; scientist working in numerous areas of physics, including phased array radar development and programming for government funded national security during the Cold War and afterward. After he left engineering in early 1974, he turned to marquetry (a passion he learned from his father) and fine arts.
Personal Life & Family

He married fellow physicist, Juanita Joyce (Smith) Schneider, then in Washington D.C., on Memorial Day 1964. They had two children, both girls, who were raised by both parents and educated more than public education by their parents, and their adventures, as the family traveled during school breaks to pursue Will’s career as a traveling artist, which they did for several years. In late 1977/1978 Joyce returned to a career in engineering and the family moved to Maple Grove, MN.

Aggressive bladder cancer that spread throughout his bones; it was caused by smoking cigarettes since age 14; an addiction he could only shake for a few years when bias daughters were very young.
