  • Introduction

    The Chronicle. Adelaide. 14th October 1899. OBITUARY. The Marine Department at Port Adelaide have been advised that Mr. William Furnell, second keeper at the Middle Bank lightship, died on Saturday of an attack of influenza. He joined the service in November 1882, and received his last appointment on September 1, 1897. The first and third keepers have been directed by the president of the Marine Board to maintain the lightship pending the appointment of another keeper.

    The Age. Melbourne. 14th October 1899. FURNELL. - On the 7th October, at Wallaroo, South Australia, William Furnell, the dearly beloved father of W. F., F. C. F., Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Thompson, late of South Melbourne. Aged 72 years. Deeply regretted.
