He had a child Joyce Anne Richardson Payne. William Richardson was buried on August 29, 1992 at Highland Burial Park N Main St, in Danville, VA.

    'Gene' Richardson The funeral for William E. "Gene" Richardson, 71, of 2211 Franklin Turnpike, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Mount Hermon Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Davidson. Interment with military rites by American Legion Post No. 325 will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will be at the residence. Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He died Thursday morning in Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. Born June 13, 1921, in Danville, he was a son of Henry Lee Richardson and Mary Shaw Richardson. He was founder and chief of Mount Hermon Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He worked as a maintenance engineer at Dibrell Brothers for many years. Richardson was founder and manager of Virginia Heating & Refrigeration. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 325 and was a life member of Sertoma Club International. He was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. On May 17, 1942, he was married to Eleanor Ricketts Richardson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joyce R. Payne, June 5. In addition to his wife, of the residence, survivors include a sister, Gloria R. Motley of Danville; a brother, Berkley Richardson of Danville; a number of nieces and nephews.
