Grandfather I never knew
William G. Thompson deserted his wife and three children in or around 1947. He supposedly took off with a wealthy woman whom employed him as her chauffeur.
Last word, he moved to Florida to Fort Meyers. William's brother, Arthur Thompson, a thoughtful man, stepped in to help out and took the three children on many local trips as a father figure. Women did not have many opportunties for good paying jobs, nor, education. My grandmother did her best. RIP Nanny!
