William was sent to an internment camp for Japanese American families during WWII, it is there he learned a trade and utilized that to rebuild his boat the FV Loretta Ann, he worked maintenance for the Chatham School district. He was known as a very kind hearted man he never remarried after losing his wife, he raised most of his 8 kids on his own the youngest too young for him to care for went to her mothers family.
